04/01 - Loving Keto Meals - MegDoesKeto

I was actually pretty pleased with my meals yesterday! I could’ve had more fat and protein but it wasn’t far off of my goals. I am enjoying using MyFitnessPal not only to log all of my food (and calculate where I am throughout the day with my macros) but also for looking at my past few days and seeing what has worked well - especially considering I still have those foods in my fridge right now. Also, after doing all of my research I could about keto flu, I ordered some chicken bone broth in  the hope that it will help my whole system when I have very little energy.

I am still feeling confident in the keto diet and I can genuinely see myself continuing to eat the food I’m eating in the long term. When I’ve gone on diets before they’ve always been just eating more lettuce and less crisps and exercising a bit. I’m enjoying experimenting with my food and trying recipes I wouldn’t usually have on keto, especially with recipes that involve more fat! I love cooking and being in the kitchen, so I hope this feeling doesn’t quickly fade like it has with other ‘diets’, and that I keep loving what I’m making. Although keto is restrictive, I want to see that as a good thing, and I think I’m beginning to. I love cooking keto food and researching into a whole new load of recipes that I wouldn’t have looked at otherwise!

What I ate yesterday:
Lunch: 2 rashers of bacon, a fried egg and some fried spinach (271kcal, C: 0.9g F:21.6g P:19.5g)
Dinner: 1 fillet of salmon with dill, lemon and butter, a small avocado, some spinach and a bit of cream cheese (620kcal, C:13.7g F: 49.5g P:33.8g)
Snacks: 3 squares lindt 90% dark chocolate (180kcal, C:9g F:16g P:3g)

Overall this works out as 1071kcal, 23g carbs, 87g fat and 56g protein. Not at my ideal macros but certainly getting closer. Still a bit high with the carbs, and I’m thinking of reducing my limit to 20g instead of 25g; I can eat under 20g quite easily and the extra 5g just gives me more reason to snack! But I think I will leave it for another few days and see how I go with my meals before deciding.
